The term culture shock, as far as I know, was first introduced by Oberg (1960), when studying the adjustment process of anthropologists to different cultures during their field research. For a longtime a subject for anthropology, thep henomenon of culture shock was studied as one of the phenomena observed during the course of adjustment to a new culture (Berry,1985).
