The College of Information Science and Engineering and Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering will be relocated from Shiga to Osaka in April 2024 Track Outline The RCE track allows students to take courses in English in a wide range of fields. Course offerings range from those in the humanities and social sciences, such as political science, economics, business administration, sociology, cultural anthropology, law, area studies, and contemporary Japanese culture, to courses in other science fields such as information (computer) science. Offered At Kinugasa Campus (Kyoto) Osaka Ibaraki Campus (Osaka) Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (Shiga) Study Period Half-year (1 semester) or Full-year (2 semesters) Class Language English Colleges/ Graduate Schools Offering Courses International Relations Letters Social Sciences Business Administration Policy Science Information Science and Engineering Economics Admission Requirements Applicants must fulfill either a) or b): a) Enrolled in a university or graduate school for at least one year at the start of the program b) Graduated from university/ graduate school and obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher, or have an equivalent academic degree Language Requirements Native English speaker, or have a minimum English proficiency test score of TOEFL® iBT 68/ PBT 520, CEFR B2, or IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) Other Available Courses Campus-Specific Courses (CSC) Optional Japanese language courses (introductory level; one semester only) Optional Japanese language course (elementary to upper advanced) No Japanese Language course available Notes Due to the limited number of spaces available, students may not be able to take desired courses. Students should be mindful of this if they intend to take any courses required for graduation during their time in Japan. Students (both half-year and full-year) may be able to take a one-semester introductory Japanese language course. However, students whose Japanese proficiency exceeds the class level will not be able to register for this course. Students that wish to take the course will need to take an online placement test. Please note that even if a course was offered in the past, it may not be offered during a future academic year. SKP students can select courses only from the course lists for each track/campus distributed to them at the start of the course registration period. Students will not be able to choose from among all the courses for regular students offered in English.
