The Government has begun to operate the dump since February 2003. This paper aims to arrange the international key frameworks to protect the environment of the Pacific island countries, to report upon the Tafaigta Landfill improved by the Fukuoka Method, and to review waste reduction activities in Samoa. Though having the own difficulties of small island countries, waste management systems in Samoa progress steadily though by degrees.
